About Ajman Department of Legal Affairs
Since its inception, the department has been in charge of Emiri Decree No. (10) of 2014, which was replaced by Emiri Decree No. (3) of 2018 regarding the Department of Legal Affairs of the Government of Ajman. Providing legal support and services to government agencies, as the department undertakes the preparation and review of draft legislation and contributes to the preparation of legislative policies at the request of government agencies. The department is entrusted, by virtue of its establishment decree, to organize the work of legal consultancy offices, including the issuance of regulations and regulations for organizing their work, granting initial approval for licensing offices Legal advice in the emirate and supervision and control of its work
The Department follows up on all matters related to disputes to which the government or government agencies are parties, by receiving complaints and claims filed against government agencies, seeking to settle them amicably, and representing the government and government agencies in claims and disputes before the competent judicial authorities, committees, conciliation centers, and arbitration.
The department also undertakes the preparation and review of contracts, agreements, and articles of incorporation of institutions and companies to which the government or government agencies are a party, and provides legal support at the stage of negotiation regarding the terms and conditions contained in those contracts and agreements, to ensure their compatibility with the provisions of the legislation in force in the country and the protection of government interests.
The Department of Legal Affairs, according to the decree establishing it, is the competent authority to issue binding fatwas regarding any difference of opinion or dispute of a legal nature that arises between any government agency and another, and to provide opinion and legal advice regarding inquiries from government agencies on any legal issue presented to the department. The Department is concerned with issuing, printing and publishing the Official Gazette on a regular basis. It includes legislation issued by the government such as laws, decrees, Emiri decisions and explanatory notes.
